“One day, I was sitting at my desk and received the devastating news that another friend had been diagnosed with breast cancer. This individual was remarkable – she had dedicated her life to working in assisted living and helping others her whole life– and now she had the fight of her life ahead of her
She started treatment with a double mastectomy and proceeded to chemotherapy. During her treatment, she concluded that chemo was worse than cancer and made the decision to stop and live the time she had remaining to the fullest. She hoped for a miracle, but like many other friends, breast cancer took her life.
With support, one of our future goals with doods for boobs is to develop a health and wellness program for individuals struggling with chemotherapy. Health and wellness treatments increase the immune system and help breast cancer patients reduce the effects of chemotherapy treatments, and offer a better quality of life while the person is working through the treatments.
In addition, donations to doods for boobs will support other breast cancer foundations, and sponsor events to raise money for breast cancer awareness and research.
Our goal for doods for boobs is transparency to our contributors so that you can feel confident that their donations are being used to help with the emotional stress of breast cancer through this life-changing event. Donations also will be given to other foundations supporting housing in times of need.
UPS, AND DOWNS
I wanted to come up with some way that I could give back, something that could make a difference in helping people. With 30 years of experience designing art, I wanted to use those skills to create a logo that would be different and eye-catching. I designed a logo that I hoped would motivate and inspire people to be more involved, express support for individuals, donate to the cause, and participate in events.
I was unsure about using the shape of the breast, but I liked how this design symbolizes the ups and downs of an ever-changing life. After consulting with respected people from various professions and conducting research and development on other design options, we decided to go with this version. I have been very blessed, I am grateful for this opportunity to give back this logo that we have copyrighted, and will be dedicated to the women and men that have lost their lives to cancer, forever.
